War would end if the dead could return.
-Stanley Baldwin

This post is not to make you sad as I just want to mark an important date in history with this photo. The sad part would be there are still war going on in this world and that many more such monuments will be erected in rememberance of the victims.

Fact
Today in history, the town's population shrunk by 1300 people

enough about war, I wish you an enjoyable weekend!

great way to mark the Veteran's Day.
have a good weekend too.
i'm still thinking about your tasty looking langos on a sunday morning, maybe sometime... (see, your photos are sometimes very impressionable)

p.s. knowing that you are on beta blogger i see that you don't have problem leaving comments on non beta ones with no 'other' option like AcraDP, Ame's DP...
i DO and it's starting to get to me...
any suggestions?!?!

At first I didn't see the statue on the portal blog, but after I clicked into your post I could see it quite readily. It's a great composition and an effective way to show the monument. Yes, the fact that all those lost lives haven't stemmed the act of war is very sad.

This is a beautiful composition, the leaves and shadows add much to the statue itself. Important message too...

It is so important to remember Kris, and to learn the harsh lessons of the past. I'm featuring Remembrance Day all this week.

Kris, it's a wonderful composition with a fine tone. About war, well, I can only say it in Spanish:
Mientras las mujeres y los hombres que pueblan este planeta, no aprendamos a seleccionar a los politicos que nos gobiernan, la guerra seguira, ya que es un esplendido negocio.
