November theme day : Water's edge

Luckily the bus that we're on slowed down due to traffic. So. perfect timing for me to capture a moment at the river.

#355 - Summer of 2007

Here's a feel of the summer to come. These girls are already creating memories. They'd still remember the time they spent at this spot. On the other hand, hopefully this wooden platform would still be around :) Do you remember your last summer?
Wish you a wonderful weekend!
ps. due to last min. changes to plan, am rushing again -_- read your comments and posts later!

#343 - Life through rose tinted glass
.
Every visit to the liget (li-get = park) we're sure to expect nature bringing us something new each week. Look at what we got as a gift for walking the distance :)
Obviously I've enchanced the photo with what I'd like to call the " see life through rose tinted glass" effect.. do you like it?
Have a positive week ahead, everyone!

New season

***
On a different note, one of my visitors, Istvan has taken the liberty to find more info. on these statues. His friend helped to confirm the background and existence of the 'pick and shovel men' (kubikusok). To those who are interested, you can now read about it at the sidebar. (<<) .
Feedback/assistance such as this definitely makes maintaining this blog more worth while. Köszönöm Szépen Istvan and Andras!

Family portrait

With one slice of bread, we headed to the Kurcha river to try to tempt the ducks. That family and couple of other children beat us to it! The ducks were probably full and were clearly not impressed with our offerings :p But this angle makes a lovely family portrait, don't you think? I only wished the quality was better.

Nature
.
The quote sums it up for me. No matter how many times I walked past the river, I never go home with empty memory card ;)
Sorry guys, I have to surrender the computer to make way for translation work. So, I probably won't get to browse your site today. You have a nice day!

Yesterday
Jenny of Sharon DP inspired me to take long slow walks at the park, to try to capture the autumny colours. As you can see green is still the dominating colour, so I'll return as often as possible to capture the changes. Although in chilly weather the park was actually filled with joggers/runners; hence, I chose this calmer scene at the river side for you (best viewed in larger version, click on photo).
ps. be back later to read your posts.

Rainny day and Sunday
Initially, I set-off to take photos for graffiti Sundays..as you can see I got side tracked with this moody image of the rainny morning (the graffiti wall is just across the river). Spring/Summer are great seasons for activities; however, for photography, I prefer autumn/winter. That said, am quite happy with this find :)
Wish you a rain-free day!

Lost and found

Was out at the river side in search of wild life as subjects for photography. Interestingly, I found this heart-shaped clay/porcelain thingy stuck in some slimy green weed..wonder if it's lost from the houses during the heavy flood or it's dumped there as it no longer hold any sentimental value to the onwer? hmmm.....whatever it is, somebody please "rescue" it ! before the river gets overly polluted.......

Nice day
Looking out the window, seems like we'll have a promising sunny day! After breakfast, will walk to the river side (again!) to see if I can reserve that wooden plank all to myself ..would be nice to do some reading there :)
Enjoy your Sunday!

Flood
You may have heard about the flooding of Danube, Tisza and other rivers all over Hungary/Romania/Belgrade. Luckily, our town, which is located at the bank of Tisza river, has not been affected by the flood; however, our neigbouring towns are not as fortunate.
Last Friday, additional 250 soldiers arrived at the town's barracks to assist the nearby communities and individuals affected by it. I'm happy to report that the situation is under control and hope all this will end soon.
