Nice or otherwise?

My first impression of these scriblings on a public wall were "cute!" . Guess I was imagining some kids playing teacher or found a creative way to practice maths., nevermind the vandalism.

That made me realised how my level of tolerance changes towards different kinds of graffiti. Example, unappealing ones = crap & eyesore, where as if I see more colours, slightly artistic graffiti, I'd say more please! How hypocrite of me.

So tell me, which category do you belong to?

I thought it was a blackboard in school at first glance...then the black and white actually match quite well with your blog color creating quite an artistic feel :)

I love murals but have ambivalent feelings about graffiti, especially if it mars the space. Would be nice if these "artists" used their own canvas. Some of it is clever, but I reserve my admiration for murals!

Personally, I don't like graffiti as it is disrespectful of the property owner and public as well. I don't think it is very respectful to deface someelse's property.

I know that the view is different in Europe and is evidenced by the multitude of graffiti everywhere. But for me, I find it an eyesore. And the first time in Europe, I have to say I was a little shocked when I first saw it everywhere. Before I understood that there is a higher tolerance there, I thought, "wow, there sure are a lot of slums!" because where I live, generally, the only places that have a lot of graffiti are run-down parts of town.

But now I know that it is just a different way of thinking about graffiti. Personally, I'd rather see beaufiful gardens, buildings, and clean streets and walkways!

First, I LOVE this photo. There is just something about it.

Second, I LOVE graffiti, but I suppose only if it's "artistic" and in the right spot. So, on a train, ok. On a beautiful white building in Paris, maybe not. I'm a hypocrite too.

Yes, I guess we are all hypocrites about some things.
Graffiti actually be quite artistic but defacing private property nulifies that. As Kate said let them use their own "canvas" whatever and whereever that is.

It look freedom of speech to me or plain children's game or the abstract truth. A very fine shot!

I dont know what category I belong to but that is some weird math - interesting that 5 times 1 is 5 and 5 times 5 is 5 uless the graffiti person made a typo? hmmm

susan,
you're not the only one. It took me a long time to accept this is part of the "culture". The interest thing is authority seem not to be bothered as well. Probably that's one reason why private owners gave up on repainting the wall , as it will be in vain .

Thank you all for your feedbacks :)
