Theme day: Festival of the Belly Button

When I first make the big move here in 2005, I received my first digital point 'n shoot camera, a gift to document my new life in a new country.

It was also the early years of photo sharing on the internet; so, enthusiastically I joined many photo sharing sites. In the beginning, many of my photos was just point and shoot (duh!), without considering the proportion etc.


Over time, I learned more on photo compositions and editing from others. By 2006, my first digital camera retired when I upgraded to semi-dslr; which am still currently using.

For this theme day, I submit 2 shots of the rail tracks, both taken just within months. The noticeable difference for me was that in the later shot, I got more comfortable with photo editing programmes, and experimented a lot more.

Luckily the bus that we're on slowed down due to traffic. So. perfect timing for me to capture a moment at the river.

DP Theme day : City Exchange

City exchange *brain storming*light bulb*... let's do Szentes' sister cities/town, fantastic!

Will just focus on one city which is Markgröningen(Germany) . Obviously I haven't been to the area but would really love to see the place for myself because...
am curious of what happens at a Shepherd's Race (a tradition since 1445)!
If I'm there for the race, I could attend their international music festival. Of course, the great attraction for me is their gorgeous architecture such as the one shown above. Can't wait!

When the theme for January was announced, I have no doubt which photo I'd pick. I love sponstaneity in my photos, besides playing of shadow and lights. Tecnically, this photo may not be my personal best ; what makes it "best" for me is I think I captured the spirit of the campaign ...Without further ado...

DP Theme Day - Taxis

When I was composing the taxis' theme day in my mind, I wanted rain in my photo... I got rain! I thought rain added "drama" into the otherwise plain taxis. Don't you think?
Given that what i've written about taxis back in April is still valid, am gonna take a short cut by just copy & pasting it here again ...
"Unlike the taxis in Edinburgh , ours are plain as can be. There are no regulations that say taxis must be of certain car model. The only standardisation are the stickers on the doors and the usual light box on the top. Hence, taxis here can be 4 wheel-drive or even station wagons."

Many times I wanted to steal my way inside this apartment building; because of the lovely 30's style entrance (only one in town). Of course I have no chance due to the password protected lock. Behind it is another doorway and if you peep closer, you might see a small courtyard . It keeps me wondering how the atmosphere would be like inside....

DP Theme Day: Self-Portrait In My Favourite Place

Great! yesterday I announced my break from DP blogging for a month and THEN I found out about today's theme day! How can I resist!
why this photo? It's a teaser portrait. You can't see a whole lot of me..hahah, by the way i'm the one on the right :) It was taken last year pre-christmas, in our hotel room in Budapest. Perhaps not my favourite place. At that time, I was bored and started clicking away with my then canon, trying to capture the rain-drops on the window, and whilst experimenting that's how this photo materialised. If you must know, here's one at my fave place, the library.

DP Theme : Parking.......FREE!

Can you believe it?! Apparently, our town is so small that parking charges are not applicable! I didnt know about it until yesterday (we do not drive within the town) ..hahahha..lucky us!
Here's a photo of Hamburger Bar (name of bar) where I had my cappucinno after my search for parking metres. This is where the teenagers like to have their lunch 'cos they serve huge hamburgers .

FYI, I did find some general info. on parking in Hungary, read here ..you can even pay parking fees via sms !
