If you're not into novels, fictions and such, you should still visit the newspapers & periodicals section of the library. As it is light , airy, full of green and the reading materials are good, too. Best section in my opinion!

The place no one wants to be
Our humble court house (est.1912) covers the legal framework of the town and 10 other surrounding areas with 3 civil judges and 1 criminal judge. Usually the place is pretty deserted, which is a good sign, I suppose
Happy weekend everyone!

Early bird catches the worms
Today is the Culture day of Hungary as well as the birth of the national anthem. In line with the occasion, the theatre company organised a play at 10am, too early for us to make it :p
.
We stopped by to catch a glimps nonetheless. The sign read "full house" and people already were enjoying themselves in the auditorium.

Moving along..
These kids were so engrossed in their chess game that they didnt notice a 5'7" invading their space with a camera. In another corner, there were children on the computers. Hey, only one kid was reading..haha. Basically its a nice relaxing place to be in, if only I'm under 14 again..
ps. got to finish off translation work again, check the rest of your blogs later..Happy Sunday!

ABC
.
History of supermarts is considered new in our town, as only 39 years ago the first such biz. was set-up. Needless to say, it was THE place to shop. These days, like anywhere else in the world, people here prefer to shop at nearby hyper-mart (Tesco). So, the ABCs are more of a back-up for emergencies purchases or for perishable.
In your country, is there another meaning to "ABC" ?

Standing not too tall
.
Since land is still a plenty in our town, development tends to go horizontally. Offices sit on 1-2 floors buildings. Flats/apartments range from 3, 5 to highest of 10 floors. This might sound unexciting to some. I, myself prefer metropolitan lifestyle, but I have to admit this way of life is definitely a better one. What about you? which do you prefer?
.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!

DP Theme Day - Taxis
Given that what i've written about taxis back in April is still valid, am gonna take a short cut by just copy & pasting it here again ...
"Unlike the taxis in Edinburgh , ours are plain as can be. There are no regulations that say taxis must be of certain car model. The only standardisation are the stickers on the doors and the usual light box on the top. Hence, taxis here can be 4 wheel-drive or even station wagons."
Click numbers below to get to know others' taxis around the world :-

A room with a view
Judging by the AV equipment stored in this room, this could be the media room (noone is there to verify). Perhaps this is where they screen alternative films organised by the film club. Will find out soon..

Wellness
Our hospital is not the usual high rise/box-type building (except this one on the right), instead different wards are housed in several period buildings (see here). One interesting practice I learnt is some patients tip the hospital's staff, is it common in your country?

Fellow enthusiasts
On Tuesday, I had the chance to view some of the photography works by fellow Szentesi* held at the cultural centre (cafeteria room). I have to say, am thoroughly impressed with the high quality of photos shown at the exhibition, organised by Szentes Photo Club**.
**Szentes Photo Club was founded by 5 amateur photographers in 1974.
Upon formation, they started to meet every Monday because there were no interesting tv programmes on Mondays :D . Til today, they continue to share new techniques and experiences. They accept 1-2 new members every year.

Pretty soon, we hope to see/welcome tourists cycling through the town's route of Euro Velo, a project that provides a safe bicycle path crossing the whole continent of Europe (60,000km of which 20,000km is ready / Hungarian section approx.400 km). Remember : don't leave your bike at home the next time you travel to Europe ;)

Most importantly...
Never mind that the paint is coming off, never mind that clear arylics are missing from the door, never mind the rubber is pulled out, most importantly ... the phone is WORKING! *eye sore* That must be the motto of the phone company ! With nearly every person carrying a mobile phone, I wonder what will be the future for phone booths?

Convenient
Convenience stores such as this are converted from garage lots. They're small but packed with all kinds of household products . Best of all, they operate longer hours and even open on public holidays. So, if you sometimes have late night craving for a bag of chips or anything, you can always count on them ;) However, this particular one which sells alcoholic beverages/liquor do more harm than good !

Air waves
Okay, the top photo has no connections with the topic. Just thought the fire hydrant is made beautiful with the matching tulips :)
Frankly, I've not tune in to the town's radio until this morning. Hmmm..the quality of the broadcast is not bad :) The station is about 10 years old and funded by the local council. The broadcast is 12 hours daily . Well , they play local and international music, have talks on lifestyles/films/dining/medical etc, just like any ohter radio station. I might listen to it more often :)+++++++++++
I'd like to wish Mark of Atlanta a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY and many happy returns !

Simple amusement
*enjoying the swing* i made a little hand gesture pointing at my camera and the boy immediately stands on the swing to pose for me :)As you can tell by now, life here is pretty quiet and simple. For the kids, they have no Ronald McDonald's play house, no video arcades (not counting internet cafés) ..which is great as they engage in much more outdoor activities. Each flat/apartment is provided with a play ground (2nd pic) , other than that we have playing fields, a small theme pool ..just very simple facilities :)
