A sneak peek

Spring has not really sprung!! and I am getting tired of the white christmas photo.

Searching my archive I found this single shot inside the Greek Orthodox Church . A single shot because I didn't want to disturb the woman tidying the church despite that we've asked her permission. Although the church is small in size, it is really beautifully decorated.

Standing tall once again

Calvinist Great Church. See larger .
This structure is almost 200 years old (built from 1808 til 1825) ! In 2006 (or before?) restoration work started and this blog has been following the progress ever since. Despite the slow progress, I've enjoyed capturing scenes which were interesting to me and documenting them here.

The church is now back to it's purpose again. On sundays, you can see believers making their way to the church in their best suits giving it life again :)

Inspired by Bastia DP

Lutheran church at Kossuth street

Technique inspired from this post by Bastia DP. The photographer, Terra has been kind enough to explain how to achieve the effect (kaleidoscope +35mm) . If you have a kscope, give it a try!
What you see is a cheat as my home made kaleidoscope is not giving me the result i wanted . so i've tweaked using photo manipulation software.

I dig, do you?

This is THE place where you'd want to say "I do" in, a neo-gothic church (Lutheran). Why? because it's full of characteristic of gothic architecture (built in 1905). Imagine the sun shining through the coloured stained glass whilst the beautiful bride walking down asile. All 317 guests seated witnessing a wonderful moment of your life. No, i haven't been inside! you'll just have to take my words for it :D

Peeping

We often pass by the St. Anna Roman Catholic Church, this time I thought we'd ask permission to photograph the inside. But no one was to be seen. However, the organ was playing, listening to the tunes, even though from the outside really give a sense of peace...
Enjoy your weekend everyone !

some facts
The church was est 1842
The organ was made in 1889

Greek corner

We have a little Greek corner at the central part of the town. How it got the name and the history is a mystery to me (nothing much online). In fact there's nothing around that's related to Greece except for this Greek Orthodox Church (est.1786) I've so many questions!
The small space is popular among teenagers and skate boarders during the evening. I promise more "action" shots of skate boarders the next time, til then enjoy the few minutes of sun shining on the church yesterday ;)

Cultural Traditions - Easter

*Greek Orthodox Church*

In Hungary, Easter is celebrated on Sunday and Monday. Sunday is reserved for religious worship while Monday for cultural traditions. As my partner and I are not religious people, we intend to spend today with his family and at the same time perform the cultural part of the celebration. Upon arrival, the males will sprinkle perfume, cologne or water to females around them , in exchange for some coloured eggs or chocolate eggs.
If you want to know the reasons behind the tradition, see here :)

to those who celebrates Easter :-

HAPPY SUNDAY!
