I've always thought such statue of workers was from the communist era. Whilst checking for more info, I came across a thread in town's online forum, where the facts prooved that it was not built for the soviet bloc and in fact no one knows the true meaning behind these statues....???

Interesting :- In Budapest all memorial of the communist culture have been removed and placed at a one of its kind theme park, name Statue Park . Its worth a visit

wonderful shot. I prefer the one in colour. The silhouette of the statues provoke in me a very 'Pride' feeling. I guess provoked by the Gay Pride Parade shot at the NYC DP.

...at first I was afraid....I will survive...

maiylah : yeah, i'm determined but i was wrong :p

Perhaps it's a memorial to all those who have overcome some adversity. Hand raised in pride, expressing power and accomplishment.

I like the picture and the question about the meaning of this statue.

Best wishes, Kris.

Nice shot. Liked the blurry effect towards the edges of the picture.

Very nice shots! The old communist statues can be fun. I have a picture of myself sitting in Marx's lap in this statue in Berlin: http://www.aidan.co.uk/photo2404.htm

Obviously that is not my picture...mine is from before the digital era. =)

I somehow like all these soviet-era/socialist realism artworks. Call me a masochist if you like :-)

But, I definitely don´t like the government system it created it.

Anyway, beautiful photos, cris, nice to see that a blog gives you a ride to another, wondeful place.
