Uniform , not

*after school (nursery) ..little fashionista ...*

Schools in Hungary don't have uniforms. Except on final exam. days, students are required to wear the formal tie/suit and jacket/skirt for males and females respectively. Personally, I prefer the practice of wearing uniform in schools, so that those who are under privilege don't feel the pressure to "compete" in terms of appearance.

That 's a very nice backpack. I remember wearing a school uniform for four years, but there was always trouble because of forgetting some part of it, the hat, the tie, something not right about the knee high socks, I guess even with uniforms there are ways to differentiate in the schools, kids and teachers do it no matter what...

Hi Kris,
Very nice shot. I understand what you mean but I had to wear a uniform an hated it. We were always fighting with the neighbouring school because they wore a different one! I like the freedom my daughter has in her school to wear what she likes (after parental censorship of course:)

that is a great point about the competing for appearance thing - also, I like the photoshop done on the image - the "desaturation" I guess is what its called? Thats such a kewl technique - I need to learn that one of these days!!!

Brian&Lucy : yes, yes, I remember, we skirt must be knee length bla bla ,other wise you'll get warning :D

Bob : hmmm..fighting over different uniform ?!! why? where they much more good looking ? hahahah.. i know sometimes we may not like the uniform itself ,but i still think its easier just to throw the same thing on everyday without having to be concern what is should colour I should wear today etc. PLenty of time to be bothered with that when one start the working life. Ok, men may not have the same headaches as women on what to wear ;D

Yes, as a girl, I think it is just EASIER to have a uniform. Then you don't look through all your clothes five time trying to decide what to wear. =)

I always wished I could wear a uniform. I just hated to think of what to wear most days.
The girl looks very sweet in the photo.

We don't have uniforms in Germany either. Except for some private schools maybe. I guess it can also put some pressure on the kids and parents to get THE cool shoes or jeans or whatever. Kids can be quite picky with these things already ;).

I have to try that - I just learned this technique with photoshop using the hue and saturation settings - very neat graphic editing Kris!

Lovely image. I like this effect very much. I hand color silver prints (traditional black and white photographs) using transparent oils and colored pencils and often apply color to just one part.

Nicholas, when you turn a color photograph into black and white in Photoshop, try using the individual channels or the channel mixer. Desaturating or simply changing the mode to grayscale is not very satisfactory because you lose the subtle gradations of gray and often end up with a rather flat image. If you're interested, there is a good tutorial at http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tutorials/
or/black-and-white.html.
